Nursing Home Outreach
On December 20, 2007 the Fort Hood Silver Chapter of the USAWOA volunteered to assist the Indian Oaks Living
Center (Nursing Home), in Harker Heights Texas with a Christmas party. Over 40 Fort Hood Silver Chapter
members, family members and guests participated. Silver Chapter volunteers donated gifts, snacks and board
games to support the event.
Silver Chapter volunteers hosted and assisted the nursing home members with competitive bingo games. Volunteers definitely enjoyed the one-on-one communication exchange and lifetime stories told by nursing home members. The children of the Silver Chapter volunteers really got involved and supported the Christmas event. The children played one-on-one checker and domino board games with nursing home members, lead bingo games and presented prizes to the winners.
The Christmas Party Outreach turned out to be a very heartwarming and memorable event for nursing home members and the Fort Hood Silver Chapter volunteers.
